Arundel Lido

New community facilities at Arundel’s lido
DESCRIPTION
Whaleback supported the initiative to deliver new facilities at Arundel Lido by providing integrated planning and heritage advice from early design stages through to consent. Working closely with the design team, we shaped a strategy that responded to the sensitive riverside setting, views to Arundel Castle and the site’s historic context. We prepared the planning and heritage submissions, articulating the public benefits of the scheme and its architectural response to place, while ensuring compliance with relevant policies. Whaleback also supported engagement with the local community and stakeholders, helping to address any concerns, and ensuring the proposals were understood as a civic asset that would enhance the long-term viability of this much-loved public lido.
“Excellent design - to provide facilities which Arundel desperately needs. Innovative and impressive. I am very supportive of the scheme.”
– Consultation response
